Hi pilotdad,
Good decision to tell your parents. Whilst that’s never going to be easy my advice is to not just present them with the problem – show them what you are going to DO about it. Show them the barreirs you are putting in place, ask them to help with accountability. Show them the support you are using here and/or elsewhere. When I stopped gambling I’ve never seen my mum as happy as when I told her I was getting to GA meetings.
The actions that will help you stop gambling are the same actions that can help rebuild trust etc.
Show them this site as well – they can get support in the Friends and Family Forum and groups.

Hi Tay538, Welcome to the site. I hope you start your own thread and you can start getting support. First piece of support is that I would say we are never “not addicted any more” Sadly we proably all tested that one in the past and tried another bet – only to discover we were still addicted. I am and always will be a gambling adict, using support means I can choose to not act on that addiction. 🙂 I hepe to read your story on your own thread, check out the group schedule as well and maybe I will see you in there. We can all choose to not gamble.

I would recommend avoidint those sports bets, they can just keep your addiction ticking over – better to starve it entirely. I used to switch forms of gambling myself, the addiction always followed. That and any small/medium win clearly meant it was “My lucky day” and I’d soon be back gambling as i had before.Keep posting.
