Hi Courage. None of us can do it on our own, we all need support or we wouldn’t be here. Now think about the last time that you fell off the wagon, you probably felt like this then as well, many of us have felt that way. You got back on that wagon then though and you can do it again. Use all the support that you have, put all the barriers in place that you can. getting to a GA meetign might be a way to tell your addiction you have had enough of it right now, a way to draw a line in tha sand.
Keep posting Courage, hopefully see you in a group again soon.

Well done on looking for help. I am sure that reading the other threads here you will have seen lots of stories simialr to your own. You will also have seen the success stories, what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?
Keep posting and I look forward to hearing an update.
charlesModeratorHi Steven, clearing your debts is a good thing of course but it can also be a dangerous time. More available money, more available credit means we can be vulnerable when the urges turn up. Why not get a blocker for your PC? It will stop you gambling and also stop you visiting those gambling sites to look at odds etc.
charlesModeratorHi theone, well done on your gamble free time. Keep posting.
charlesModeratorGreat poem cw. I hope to hear a little about your story. Check out the My Journal Forum, you will see that you are not alone and I hope to read about your progress there.

charlesModeratorHi Again Zman,
You are not alone. If you start your own thread in the My Journal Forum then you can write about your progress and your gamble free days. Reading the other stories there you can follow other people gamble free time as well.
If you want to meet fellow problem gamblers in your area then you will do so at your local Gamblers Anonymous meetigns. I just checked and there are 55 meetings in Pensylvania. Get to your local one and you will make friends there.

Be careful of doing “I won’t if you won’t” deals though. What happens if the other person gambles? Start your thread in the My Journal Forum, get to meetings. You have a lot of support available to you and can help both yourself and others by using it.
Hopefully see you in a group here again soon as well.
2 June 2016 at 7:02 pm in reply to: This might seem like a weird way to create a barrier, but it just might work. #7852charlesModeratorHi Zman,
Getting yourself banned from that casino is indeed a good move. A more reliable method would be to go there, with no money on you, and ask them to exclude you. Security will take your photo, job done.
charlesModeratorHi Tasha, well done on looking for help.
The good news is that you know that you can stop; you did it before and you can do it again. Then though, when the counselling is over, it is important to use ongoing support to maintain recovery. This site can help you do that.
Day one tomorrow. What thigns can you put in place? Where have you been gambling? Get yourself banned? How have you been funding it? What barriers can you put in place?
Read the other stories here, you will see the sort of things that have helped others. Apply what you can to your own situation.
Keep posting.

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums
Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties youre currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if youre new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. Were in this together!
Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like youre not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.
And on that note….
Im going to hand you over to our community because Im sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂
Take care
The Gambling Therapy Team

PS: Let me just remind you to take a look at our
privacy policy and terms and conditions so you know how it all works!
charlesModeratorWell done on your gamble free time Rayman. When the day comes that you do have those “small gamble” thoughts it would help if you were already banned from those remaining two casinos. Keep posting
charlesModeratorHi Jrb, it is good that youare considering support as we can not relocate away from our addiction; it comes with us of course.
I actually see that there is a “real life” GA meetign in Thailand so i don’t know if that is anywhere near where you are going? Check it out.
http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/ga/addresses?page=1
Of course we also have live groups here, click on Support Groups and you will see the full schedule. When you go to Thailand remember to change your time zone on your profile page so that those groups will show in local time.
The UK GA site also has live chat, as do other online sites.
Hope this helps.
charlesModeratorHi Steven,
One thing with this addiction… it’s sneaky!!
“…..I’m not naive enough to think I can just flick a switch and stop gambling immediately……”
That sounds very much like the addiction setting you up for your next bet.
Actually, yes you can stop straight away. A blocker for your PC, proper accountability, just carrying the cash you need, using support, getting to GA meetings etc etc. Those are the things that will help you stop gambling and also the actions that might help rebuild trust etc with yoru girlfriend.
People can slip, they can learn from those slips, or not, but gambling again is not inevitable. Don’t listen to your addiction if it tries to tell you that it is.
Keep posting.
charlesModeratorWell done on your gamble free time.
In terms of recovery a good day is when everything goes well and we don’t gamble. A brilliant day is when everything goes to **** and we still don’t gamble!! I think having your car stolen would quailify you for having a brilliant day in recovery, well done.
Well done also on finding a few new thigns to fill your time. No one is more suprised than me that I like gardening as well!
Keep p[sting
