***** Ryan, well done for reaching out for help. I am sorry that you discovered gambling at 16 and have spent the last four years progressively getting worse in your gambling. My advice is to be 100% totally honest with your family about how bad it is (it does help if you can find the courage to do it). It’s not the easiest thing in the world to do but when you can embrace honesty, it really helps recovery. Family and friends can’t begin to help us if we aren’t honest with them.
I would also strongly recommend you search the meetings list at http://www.gamblersanonymous.org.uk/ and find your nearest one. At GA meetings you’ll find ppl of all age/colour/creed/shape/size/gender who just want to stop gambling and they meet up once a week to share experience, strength and hope to help each other stay off a bet. It’s totally anonymous and you get no judgement there, just help and support.
Really well done on posting here, it’s the first step in what I hope will be a strong recovery and happy new life for you.
Sherrie
