I think this feeling goes away after some time. You have been gambling for most of your life so it probably takes some time to get used to your new lifestyle.
You should of course beat this gambling problem and move on. With your story in mind it may be best with some professional help? Not sure how old you are but with a lot of debt it may be a good idea to go all the way immediately and not try to solve this yourself. But in the end you need your willpower but I know you can do it, people, also you, are very strong when they get enough!
