Hello. I’ve been gambling for a year now. I’m in debt and that puts me in fear. So then I try and win more.  My mom completely puts me down sometimes passive aggressively.  She thinks I can just stop like that. And just sits there and goes on and on. I need help and people to relate and talk to. I’m at the end and can’t go on this way. I have a son who needs me and I’m barely hanging on. Please help. I feel worthless,  ashamed , and guilty. I feel like I’m in a hole and can’t get out.

Hi, I have been gambling for years!!! Stopped a while then gone back to it!!! You do not have to be ashamed or feel bad! As a compulsive gambler, I understand you more than none gambling addicts!
This is my day 1. I have decided I can not gamble anymore as my life is destroyed!! Lost wife, lost friends, lied to people…. But, the TIME has come to STOP it completely!!!! I am 38 years old, but I feel like a 70 yo!!! I have no energy left!!! Gambling is the worst hidden illness sweeping up the vulnerable society.

Unless you are a compulsive gambler, nobody will care about you!!! Including the politicians who are cashing in from gambling platforms

You aren’t alone. Gambling is just a lonely habit because we try to hide it. You aren’t worthless, losing money just makes us feel worthless.

I suggest finding a friend or loved one you can open up to, who can help you with your journey towards recovery. Also, joining the chat groups here may be of help to you as well.

I totally agree it’s about surrounding yourself with people who won’t judge and will just listen! It’s not easy I’ve been trying to restrict my gambling and have had periods of success but now it’s time to stop! Talking is the best medicine and once you’ve opened up about it you can truly begin to change!
