Little did l know that l would one day try to take my life after loosing thousands of dollars as my disease progressed anx consumed my life

On top of my gambling issues l also suffer from depression and anxiety and also diagnosed with bdp. These disorders have also atributed to my gambling issues. I became very sick when my mom was dying from complications from dementia and began to go off the rails with drugs alcohol and gambling

.ln and out of the hospital was a constant for me. I couldnt cope with my mothers illness and became consumed by my many addictions. My mom passed when l was in hospital and didnt attend her funeral. I miss her dearly

Fast forward 10 years and my relapses have been ongoing. I live with my girlfriend now and havnt gambled in 5 days. Im done with gambling

I want to get better and heal

Recovery is the healing or process of becoming better mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically and financially.

Please do not be too hard on yourself, self care, love and support is so important. It is going to be a long and slow journey for everyone here but you are not alone.

I wish you success in your recovery! One baby step at a time.

Hello eberyone today is day 8 of no gsmbling and lm doing well. Yesterday was huge as nfl football was on. I chose not to watch and did other things like excersise. Read a book and just be silent. I dont miss obsessising over sports odds and staying up late to seest out the games outcomes. Im turning my lifr over to a higher power and will begin the 12 steps of recovery
Today. Im listening to gambling recovery podcadts atleast once a day and they are helping tremendously. Through exercise and diet and doing positive things l am slowly recovering one day at a time. God bless to you all

Hello Steven and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)

      And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂

      Take care

      The Gambling Therapy Team

      Hi Steven
I look forward to following your progress. It isn’t easy but the effort is so worthwhile.
If your girlfriend wants support while she supports you then she is welcome to join the F&F forum and groups.
I know the addiction to gamble can be controlled, if it wasn’t so I wouldn’t be here writing to you.
