Hi everyone I’ve been reading everyone’s journals and it’s comforting to know you’re not alone what you’re going through.
I started gambling about 4 years ago .I had never gambled before o thought casinos were for toffs bingo and horse racing for old folks.
Then I got a smart phone …and found online betting I did well at first I had lived in Spain for a few years and knew Spanish football well.but then I lost which angered me to put it right and so it went on until I was betting on Icelandic women’s football I knew I had a problem. So 4 years later I’m alone in a rented flat in a town I hate in a debt management with stepchange and on anti depressants. Today’s the first day I haven’t gambled and I do feel more positive unless it’s the drugs!
I had a nice house good girlfriend and 2 lovely dogs but the last few years have been hard.My girlfriend lost her business she was unemployed for a year then her dad died then I got cancer and she got diagnosed with stage 3 heart failure .Things became strained with us and gambling was an escape I knew it was wrong but it was exciting. But now it’s time to stop. I’m sick of having no life and I’m sick of having no money

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)

      And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂

      Take care

      The Gambling Therapy Team

PS: Let me just remind you to take a look at our privacy policy and terms and conditions so you know how it all works!

Hi Hoojafudge, well done on looking for help.

Read the other stories here, you will see a lot of stories similar to your own. You willalso see the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation? Getting a blocker for your phone would be a good first step.

If you are still online and reading now then I hope you can connect to the New members group which starts at 9pm (UK time).
Hopefully I will see you there or in one of the other groups soon.

      Keep posting.
