Last night when sleep finally came,
I was in a most amazing frame.
Remembered how well I fly,
I flew and flew, higher and higher
My captors were left standing
My escape was quite outstanding.
The sun rises, a new day has begun
But I see no light to guide me.
Memories of so many gambling sprees,
That took away the unlocking key.
So much time, misspent to a great extent,
Kept me safe from the present.
And now is thee, often called me,
Filled with argument and discontent.
The black dog surrounds me in the undulating fog
Blinding, biting within the penetrating smog.
Hi Lib… When we stop gambling we have to face life .. And it often is not perfect at first .. But it’s real and we are at last working towards a better life for ourselves.
Great poem!!
