Hi Dadlife and welcome to the forums. Well done on looking for help. Read the other stories here, you will see a lot that you will relate to. You will also see the success stories – what are trhey doing that you can apply to your own situation?
Well done on excludng from that arcade. You mention your wife and family. Your wife could help with one of the other barriers that you will read about – financial accountability/limiting acess to funds with which to gamble. Still your money of course; accountability would just mean you couldn’t gamble without knowing that she would know. The actions that will help us stop gambling are the same actions which can help to rebuild trust etc
I would say forget a year not gambling – waaaaaay too daunting. Take things a day at a time and you can reach that year. Use support as well – the forums and groups here, maybe Gamblers Anonymous meetings, Gamcare or whatever – if we could do it on our own then none of us would be here.
Keep posting and hopefully I will see you in one of the gorups soon.
