veraParticipant
Sorry to hear your mam is unwell Carole. I was looking out for an email, not realizing you were away.
Such a pity that your mother was unattended for 20 hours. Scary!
Which came first the fracture or the fall?
Hope you will find a suitable long term facility where she will be given the care and attention that all our senior citizens deserve.
Are there other family members involved in the plan Carole?
Very emotional for you!veraParticipantLots of emotions being churned up Lizbeth due to family changes . Great to see you are handling everything so well. The sale of the condo, your move to a new home, the separation from your grandson…..now that’s a “biggie!”! Sort of made me gasp when I read it, but then we have to remember Lizbeth that everything changes….
I was thinking of you lately. A neighbour of ours is in the end stage of lung cancer. The doctor told the wife “it will be quick in the end!” Sounds a bit abrupt…..I can’t even bear to think about people dying….When I had to deal with death at work, I would just say to the relatives things like…”Is everybody here who would want to be!”or ” Don’t go too far away now!”
Its very different when you are actively involved than emotionally involved. You sort of get the grace to switch off the “sad emotions” and do what is required with tender loving care.
I hope you will be able to “hand over” your grandson with as much dignity as you “handed over” your dear husband. Your daughter was one lucky girl to have you and your husband to act in loco parentis when she was unavailable. Your bond with that little guy will never end.
I don’t write to you often Lizbeth but you are in my thoughts and prays a lot.
I hope everything runs smoothly for you.
Your coping skills astound me!
You are so gentle, yet so strong!veraParticipantSo happy for you B!
The bank manager sees your true worth and through his eyes YOU see your own true worth.
Never lose sight of it B!
You’re one great woman!
You really have come a long way!
How come you didn’t see it sooner.
Be proud!
(I had occasion to meet a “financial advisor” in the bank last Friday. I said a prayer going in that I wouldn’t meet some “ivory tower” dude who would bamboozle me with figures and percentages…..long story short, I met the most down to earth woman a few years younger than myself and we hit it off immediately. Told me she hadn’t work in Branch Banking for years so would be slow….suited me fine. We had a great chat and “did the business!”
Give me a human banker with the common touch any day instead of some “expert”!
I would love to meet more people like her .
You sound like her B! A” people person!”
Just what banks need! )Ps I don’t envy you with the cold weather! I HATE snow!
Except on Christmas Card!veraParticipantDon’t know what happened in the chat Sam. I was typing comments to you and Laura and everything went dead.
Better luck next time!veraParticipantHope you got sorted out with the educator B, and that the new insulin pump is making life a bit easier for you.
ODAAT!veraParticipantHi Cat and thanks for posting to my thread.
One day at a time is the only way.
I have my “Lump Sum” and pension settled now. Thanks for your good wishes and prayers. It was a miracle that things turned out so well for me financially. I must admit I did overspend at Christmas on presents, decorations food etc but its over now and it’s time to get back to reality.
Work has become very stressful . People who have remained in contact with me, tell me things are going from bad to worse. One ex colleague described it as “nightmare on Elm Street!” so, yes , the absence of stress will help me to remain G Free but having said that, work is not the only type of stress we have to deal with I think stress and chaos follow CGs so we need to “step on the stress bug” as well as the G bug before they rise up and bite us!
As you say Cat, odaat!veraParticipantThinking of you Neecy!
How are you getting on?
veraParticipantSorry I wont be able to make it to the group this evening Charles.
I have to go to Dublin now.
If you have that info for me, I would be grateful if you can hold on to it until Monday!
Thanks!veraParticipantHappy New Year Lori!
veraParticipantI intend to “move” the money from my current account by January 9th/10th to a safer place where it will be out of my reach. I need to get financial advice before I make this move!
veraParticipantLove is often misunderstood, Liz!
Your actions towards your husband proved your love for him.
Love never ends!
veraParticipantWhat great greeting, Ican!
Same to you…odaat!veraParticipantI would say there is no charge for making small payments Sad, but you would need to check with the CC company. I have money in a current account in the Bank. I keep checking it online to make sure it’s safe. Yesterday I noticed two deductions €31 and €15 , for Notified fees and “interest” or some such silly expensive nonsense. I have to get my money out of that account fast…
I’m going to live a frugal life from next week onwards. I have a few “expensive” events planned. A party and a trip to the theatre (Pride and Prejudice in the Gate) I invited 5! After that I will be like Scrooge.
Im thinking of investing in a new car . Only THINKING now! It would mean paying €300 per month. So I would not have that much left and would have something to show for my work. I have gambled the price of ten cars at least!veraParticipantWell done on quashing the negative thoughts and allowing the positive aspects of life to surface, P!
All we can do, is our best!
ODAAT!veraParticipantFor 2014, I intend admiring the money I have “accrued” which is presently in my current account in the Bank, until I decide how much to use to pay off part of my existing debt and then I will decide where and how to invest the remainder, so that it is out of reach should I ever get the urge to push it into a slot machine…odaat!
