Just checking in to let you know you haven’t been forgotten, Ed!
GT is gone very quiet lately. I never know whether that’s a good or a bad sign. I find myself wondering what became of different people “is he/she still gambling/broke//fed up/too shy/scared or upset to come back, or are they just cured”. The advice given is to “look after your own recovery” but I don’t think it works like that. Once I meet someone, I can’t help wondering how life is treating them. I feel you’ve jumped over the difficult hurdles , Ed. I think you’re on the home run…odaat of course!

Sorry to hear things are not great for you B, but as you know, life can’t always be a rose garden. Try to hold on to all the good things that happened. You have been given a lot of recognition at work for achievements and you will get your turn again. Banking is a bit of a mystery to me. It was just some place I could get illicit loans and top ups for years but when I opened a savings account recently, I noticed the woman whom I dealt with was beaming from ear to ear. Lets hope she gets some credit or bonus for bringing in business with my small “donation”…..As for your work mates forgetting your dietary needs B, that seems to be typical nowadays. People , in general suit themselves and cant look beyond their own needs. Maybe you could join them for an hour and drink Adam’s Ale (water)! Feeling like an invalid at your age is not ideal but we all have to “take up our cross daily”. Life ain’t easy kiddo, but things could be worse. I try to look at what I have not what I don’t have and count my blessings!
Did you get my e mail last week?

Sorry to hear of your nan’s passing, Michael. RIP.
When we stop gambling and make changes that take effort, we expect to see results. Often, the opposite happens and we are faced with unexpected challenges like sickness, unemployment , even death. At time we may feel there is no point in making so much effort when things seem to backfire, but the reality is that these things were happening all the while when we gambled but a lot went over our heads because we were numb to our feelings. Sometimes when I hear family events being discussed, I realize I wasn’t in attendance and it sends a shiver down my spine. Don’t expect people to welcome you with open arms Michael. Remember all the times we let family and friends down and put gambling first. It will take time to rebuild that broken trust. Good that you could “phase” back to your job in the NHS before resuming full time duties. Bit by bit your confidence will increase. Well done on having the courage to attend Rehab and to come here to let us know of your progress since your return home.
Take recovery odaat. You have a lot to live for! Keep posting!
It gives other CGs hope and inspiration!

Good to see you in the group P. Even for a short visit!
Regarding the “cat talk ” on Carole’s thread..As you know I’m terrified of cats. We had so many over the years. I didn’t know male from female, mother from son/daughter or how well or badly they got along together. My only concern was to feed them and keep them from attacking me when I got out of the car. They always sensed my fear. I know that for sure! I still have nightmares about cats.
Oh! By the way…I LOVE KITTENS!

Why do we expect cats to “get along”, Carole, when so many humans never will!

CGs could learn a lesson from cats regarding boundaries and barriers, Carole!!!

You sure have your barriers up against Danny….3 cats!!!

    (Get the message Danno!!)

There is a big difference between the side effects of chocolate and gambling hangover, P!
Sorry to hear you are having challenges in your life right now but as you know gambling will only make everything much worse!
When we gamble we cannot think straight , therefore it can lead to making wrong decisions.
    Keeping a clear head helps.
    ODAAT!

Good to hear that you’re on the up and up, Bonkers!
Your wife and family have been given a new lease of life through your recovery!
    Well done!
Goes to show there is a life out there when we grasp it.

Well done on asserting your rights Sam! Very nice of the staff to admit their mistakes. As you say if you were gambling those letters would be ignored because you could not concentrate or focus on dealing with the outcome.
Charles is right! Recovery has a knock on effect! No magic wands. Just steady progress. ODAAT!
I went to the Chat at midnight. No one there. Came back 20 mins later. You had been and gone. Maybe we will meet in the group later this pm. GT is gone very quiet.

    `Welcome back to GT Carole!
What a story of self-sacrifice. I don’t know HOW YOU DID it!
    It sounds horrendous!
The recipient will be grateful to you for life!
Wasn’t it just amazing that Cat was there with you. Another benefit of being in recovery and proof that GT has provided you with friends for life!
    You were missed here Carole.
    A very warm welcome back!
