Peaches and AppleParticipant
Hi Gbabyh, I know sickness and stress can weaken your resilve but I found the strength in you in fighting this:
- You still finish your assignment even though you were too tired and sick to work on it (A very discipline individual) – a thumb up for you
- And you didn’t relpase even though you’re under stress (A determined person) – another thumb up for you.
I am really impressed.
Another 2 days you will reach your first milestone – 30 DAys!
Peaches and AppleParticipantHi Gbabyh,
I am happy for you that you are now in 23 Days. You are approaching your first milestone – 30 Days.
Peaches and AppleParticipantHi Gbabyh, yes, it is hard for them to trust you again – but it is only for now. Trust me it will changed as times passed.
In the GA meeting that I attended regularly, I heard a lot of stories of the mistrust they got in their initial journey to recovery but they gain back the trust eventually. You just have to be patient.
Peaches and AppleParticipantHi Gbabyh, I’m really proud of you. I can see that you are striving hard to stay gambling free and also concentrate on self- improvement.
I am also happy for you that you didn’t neglect your study. It is good for your future.
And I am glad that you have a big bother to help you sort out of your finance. You are doing Great!!
Peaches and AppleParticipantHi all,
I thought I could give you guys an update.
Jan 9 was my 2nd 30 Days of Recovery. Today I am looking to getting the 30 Days Keychain.
A quote by me to share with you all.
Recovery is a journey not a destination.
Recovery for addicts is not only about maintaining sobriety.
It is also about personal growth and development.
The end result is the same
– To be better than we were yesterday.
~ LTC ~Peaches and AppleParticipantSorry Craig,
I mean you not Wills.
Peaches and AppleParticipantWell said! Wills,
I am in my 2nd day. I hope I will get as far as you.
Peaches and AppleParticipantHi Marke,
I am happy to hear that you opened up to your son regarding your gambling. It took courage and it will sure help. No more hiding.
12 Days! Way to go. I am on my 2nd day.
Peaches and AppleParticipantHi Wills,
How about trying to exercise? And do you read? If you do, try reading “The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business” by Charles Duhigg.
It helps me.
Peaches and AppleParticipantHi Wiils, thank for the post in my thread.
Good luck to you too and stay strong.
Peaches and AppleParticipantDay 1
Today I will not gamble
Peaches and AppleParticipantI gambled again this 3 days. Lost about $650 in October.
Now I deleted the casino app and turned off in-app purchase. This way at least I will have to go extra step in order to play. Hopefully that will help.
I will be going to GA meeting this Sunday (Oct 28).
Peaches and AppleParticipantThank you CraigMac6 for not only posting in my thread but also encourage me to go forward gambling free.
I will remember your advise, and thanks again.
It’s great to know that you are doing volunteering work and like it. That is a amazing thing to do.
Peaches and AppleParticipantThis morning, I was in a relaxed mood and I don’t know why I just thought that playing the iPad casino slot would be fun. So I started playing and as before I intended to just use the free coins but ended up spending about $70.
I stopped after spending $70 so I asked myself do I want to go back to gambling now that I seem to be able to control. And also do I still need to go to GA meeting since it says that the requirement for GA member ship is the desire to stop gambling?
I had a LiveChat with GA in Scotland. The person I chatted to said the fact that I came to chat tell him that I need GA and want to stop gambling, and remind me that this illness is powerful and there is no such thing as control for compulsive gamblers.
I realized that there is this part of me telling me that I can do this my way and continue gambling and I also know that GA is the answer. But I must be feeling bad because of gambling or else I won’t need to chat with anybody.
So everybody, I just want to say I am not as strong as I thought and I will continue to fight this illness until the day I am in full recovery.
Peaches and AppleParticipantHi Drat88,
Thank you for being willing to become vulnerable and open up to share your story. I can feel the pain and suffering that you are going through.
Let’s be strong and take one day at a time. I would encourage you to attend GA meeting if you had stopped going. In GA, you will see that addiction can affect anybody and you can learn other people recovery techniques.
Is today your 3rd day gambling free?
I wish you the best and take care.
