That is wonderful that you reached out for help not only from here but from your doctor, i think the more we open up the better our chances.. take every ounce of help you can get.. what works for me is keeping busy, going to GA meetings regularly, coming to sites like this and reading and posting, having a higher power to connect to.. hope you have a good gamble free day and night

Thanks so much Kathryn for your post to me.. i am so glad you didnt act on those urges.. even after Five years yes you would be amazed that they just came out of the blue i guess.. that would be a shock, i seem to always think you’re ok.. but we all need to be just as on guard no matter how long we have off because all as it takes is one little coin to set us off again..
Glad you took time to think.. well done. Maybe stick close to the forum for a while again. You might need some extra support if urges are popping up..

Relapse is common in addiction but you can choose to learn from the experience.. i am very experienced in the relapsing field unfortunately but i think the main thing is to not give up. To keep trying. Keep starting fresh and persevering. If you fall down, get back up, i know its hard, each relapse for me got harder… can you try a gamblers anonymous meeting? The more support you get the better.. keep trying, dont give up on giving up
