I hope this works out ok for . I just have a few things to say. I am a compulsive gambler. My parents go divorced when I was very young . My father had me and my sister every other weekend. He would take us to the horse track every time we went to visit him. Sometimes only once some times twice when he would win the first night. My sister turned into an alcoholic . Myself I turned into compulsive gambler. I didnt stop until I could get any more money anywhere . my friends wouldnt talk to me anymore. You should thank whoever you give thanks to that you still have any money left at all . I would suggest you try to give your wife supervised visits until she is able to get better. You are really a very good person for trying to do what is right for everyone.

Back in my younger days I am now 50 something, I thought I could beat the horses. Yes some think of this as a skill reading the racing form looking at the races previously run by the entrants in the race and try to decipher the winning horse. Yes I would have a few days in a row of “beating” the horses. Yes some people are able to do this consistently. But they are able to pick a very few horses a day and only bet on them. However I myself could not do this very well . I needed to be in action every race . It was getting so bad even when I would pick the winner of the race I would still lose because I would try then to hit the first 3 horses so I could few hundred dollars. but instead would lose and keep losing. Then I was making loans off of my credit cards with the intention of paying it all back when that big win came… I did however win big a few times. But guess what happened then. I bet even more . I also thought like you at first when I came to a gamblers anonymous meeting.[ I dont know if have went to one yet I would suggest you go to one if you haven’t. ]I thought I could go to meetings and get my gambling under control. Well I am here to tell that did not go very well. They actually told me I had to stop gambling and to try to improve my character. I thought I dont need to improve anything. I just need to control money better. Well that didnt work very well. I just ended up losing my house, job and most of my family because I owed all of them money. well to make a long story short. after years of trying to gamble like a normal person and failing. I am here to tell you. Be careful of what you do . Thank you for taking time to read this … Any Questions let me know . I am away from home alot working . so might take me a few days to answer

I had a friend who came to meetings . He started buying and selling old coins although this was before the internet really got going. He did end up slipping I believe because of this. I think one should be careful when doing stuff of this type. If in your own mind there is any questions you should avoid doing this or get someone else to do it for you.

Kimura….I have also thought I could control my gambling at one time…I have tried many times to bet only a few dollars but after a while I would stay awake at night trying to figure a way to get more money… it is a long slippery slope my friend…its starts off slow at first then the need for excitement takes over and you think the next big win is coming, and yes it may happen but you will think you can win more. But in the end the money from the big win will be gone. Yes you may be able to count cards very well. But ask your self how did that work so far? As for giving my money to another person. That works very well for me when I get the itch to have some fun. Then if I do something bad I only lose a few dollars. may you find your way my friend before its too late

It is not easy to stop .But at least you know you have a problem.First thing I would do is give all your money, credit cards and checks to someone you can trust and tell them not to give you money under any conditions except for small amounts that you may need for that one day. You are doing the right thing seeking help for your addiction. I have tried many times to stop myself it is not easy.Have you tried Gamblers anonymous website to look for meeting where you live at. I go to one every week it takes 90 minutes to get there. But it helps save my sanity and to make it through another week.

I followed most of the ideas above. I destroyed all credit cards. I put the money into my wifes name at the bank. only carried small amounts of money. Everything was fine until the place I worked at wanted direct deposit my pay into the bank account and this required them to put me name on the account. It was fine for a long time until one day I saw the check book laying on the table . I got the idea to cash a check. I thought if I took it from the back of the check book. My wife would not notice at least for a few weeks. That worked for a few weeks until she got to the end of the checks . She asked me about it of course I said I dont know anything about it.Well in the end I admitted to it . I guess the lesson in this is to always be on guard and never let your self to have access to money because we can not control our selves. Always have someone to watch over your money for you. Thank you for your time.
