Hi craig just been reading through your thread you have made some great positive moves in your new gamble free life , well done and keep it up one day at a time.
mickyParticipantKnowing what works for yourself in recovery is so important but keeping it going is more important still. keeping your mind focused on the road ahead may it be long or short .
mickyParticipantlast night in group and the 2 messages i have got on my thread since mean so much to me just when i felt down and out someone cared , you know who you are thank you.
mickyParticipantThanks for your kind words of encouragement Mav they mean alot, hope your having a good day . Micky.
mickyParticipantStarting again, won’t be easy no-one likes to admit defeat in this addiction battle. Being realistic it will take me at least 6 months to clear the debt ive accumalated but i have no-one to blame but myself. So it’s back to one day at a time 6 x 30 = 180 days or there abouts it could be worse alot worse . Thinking of ending it all at the weekend of course was not an option, life is and always will be.
mickyParticipantHi Mav as you know we all have bad days and good ones do follow eventually , keep your chin up and let us know your okay my friend .
mickyParticipantLifes going really well , my advice to my fellow C.G’S is use all support mechanisms you can keep using them never relax and think you have beat this or your cured thats when it bites you. Take life everyday as a new day and enjoy the moment .
mickyParticipantMy three things that i say to myself that keep me motivated when i’m feeling apprehensive, worried, scared, etc are 1. my sons name, 2. my grand daughters name and 3. the title of something i do at work which carries responsibility . Three words i can think of and say in my mind in 3 seconds and i’m focused again.
mickyParticipantThose three things are still keeping me sane , not rocket science just three things that are important to me.
mickyParticipantThree things are making me want to go on with life at the moment , three things that are keeping me sober .
mickyParticipantReally bad day today , urges to gamble were massive my head is still spinning having to dig deeper than deep to resist but i have .
mickyParticipantHi I-did-it nice to hear from you hope your keeping well in your recovery ๐
mickyParticipantThought control is a must for us compulsive gamblers it isn’t just a case of yes or no to temptation or urge it’s about thinking about the thought. For me i surf the thought for about 5-10 minutes and the negatives are so overwhelming it soon disappears .
mickyParticipantDay 4 great well done, everyone struggles with this addiction keep doing what works for you and you will beat it, being in recovery has no time limit for addicts it really is forever . Take life one day at a time it does work ๐
mickyParticipantHi Paul you CAN change your life around lots of us have ๐
