Hi Christy, I have been gambling for over 15 years. I work on my recovery daily. It’s a continuing process. No one who isn’t a CG can understand fully how we feel and how gambling controls our lives. Sorry that your family isn’t supportive Keep posting and reading other’s threads. I found GA meetings very helpful. Although they are not for everyone, maybe you could give it a try. You are not alone. We know where you are coming from. Stay strong.
lizbeth4ParticipantVera thanks for your post. I didn’t stay silent for long. LOL. I have been trying to be more supportive here and less selfish. My Daughters and Grandson are fine. In fact I am going to the city on Saturday to attend my Grandsons birthday party. Staying the afternoon and coming back home. I have been feeling lost lately and I am sort of a mess! Not happy with a few areas of my life. Things that I can only change. I need to get myself together and do what I need to do!!! No excuses. Commitment!
lizbeth4ParticipantI’m glad that you are back! Sometimes our journey has bumps in the road. We are only human. As long as we keep going and trying, that’s all that matters!! You are a great supporter of others here. We are here to help and support each other.
lizbeth4ParticipantHi Carole. FB says we are friends. Send me a new friend request so I can accept.

lizbeth4ParticipantHi Carole. FB says we are friends. Send me a new friend request so I can accept.
lizbeth4ParticipantHi. Sent me a friend request.
lizbeth4ParticipantHi Kathryn, At least he apologized. How is your Mother? I think of her often. Take care sweet lady!
lizbeth4ParticipantHi. Good for your gamble free time. This journey is hard. Please try to get support here by posting and joining the groups. Put barriers in place, limit access to money and cards, GA meetings, support from friends and family. Keep posting. Stay strong!
lizbeth4ParticipantFG. You are stronger than you know. Good for not gambling. You should feel proud of yourself. I think we all should be able to be in the group’s. The newbies would benefit from having some of the members who have been here longer in the group chat as we could share our experiences with them. I personally feel like other people here have been my main supporters. Anyways that’s my opinion. Take care!
lizbeth4ParticipantHi. There are many things that you can do to help with gambling. Barriers-give control of money and cards to someone you trust, keep posting here and joining groups, GA meetings, online blockers. Support-family, friends, online friends here at GT, support groups. This addiction is ugly but with support, hard work and persistence you can work through it. Keep positive and strong. You are not alone!
lizbeth4ParticipantI hope that 2016 will be a gamble free year for you. I know for myself that support means everything with this addiction. Keep seeking support through GT. Have you tried GA meetings? They are not for everyone but you could give it a try and see what you think. We’ve gambled for years so it takes time and persistence to stay gamble free. You are doing good. Keep going. The urges will lessen and in time you learn what your triggers are and how to combat the urges. Stay strong and have a great day!
lizbeth4ParticipantThanks Kathryn for your post on my thread. It meant a lot. I am giving posting on my thread a break for awhile. I feel like I need to post on other’s threads instead. Sorry to hear that your Husband lost his job. I hope he finds another one soon. I think that it is a awesome idea for you to put yourself first and make this your year! You deserve it. We are not responsible for another adults happiness. They need to find if themselves. You deserve happiness and peace in your life. Take care!
lizbeth4ParticipantHi Bettie. It was good to see your post. Glad that the cruise was good. I have friends that I love dearly but don’t travel with for the same reason. Hope you get the new position at work if that’s what you want. There seems to be a lot of stressors in your life. For me stress=gambling! I am meditating (5 minutes) every morning and saying daily affirmations. A great way to start the day. May be you could give it a try. Nothing to lose! Have a great day.
lizbeth4ParticipantFG, Well done on your gambling free time! I am happy that you had a great holiday vacation. No gambling=happy life!
