No money=no gambling. This has worked for me. Have someone control your money and cards for you. Live on a allotted amount of money. I know it is hard for most people to give up that control but it does work!!!! Anything to help us!!! The opportunities for you are endless (jobs, ect..) if you put barriers in place. I am in your corner and rooting for you!!! Stay strong!

Hi Brendan_UT, I am glad that your counseling session was a great experience. It is hard for me to open up to anyone about my gambling addiction. Although I have told a few friends and a few family members, these were people whom I knew wouldn’t judge me. I think that is why it is good to be on a site like GT. We know what each other is going through, no judgments. It does help to talk one on one with a professional like you have done. It is a freeing experience. Keep going and stay strong!!!

Hi Rosco2505, Welcome! Parts of your introduction mirror my life: letting people down, uncontrollable debt, losing interest in things I used to like to do, depression. I have engaged in GA, individual counseling (for gambling and bouts of depression). I found this site and it has been a tremendous help. Keep journaling your thoughts. It helps to go back and re-read them. The support and advice here is very helpful. There are groups that you participate in. Just check the times on Support Groups. Stay strong.

Hi Brian41, Welcome! I have gambled a handful of times in the last 5 years and losing small amounts. A big improvement over gambling daily for many years and spending huge amounts and accumulating debt. I am still working on being totally gamble free. With that said, I have tried many things to stop gambling as you have. I think with this addiction like others, we just have to get back up and keep trying and trying. This site has been very insightful and the support here is amazing. Keep journaling your thoughts as it does help to go back and re-read. Stay strong.

Hi Bee, I am so sorry for your loss. Hang in there. Glad that you are feeling more positive. We all stumble! Just keep trying. I don’t know how blockers work as I don’t online gamble. My gambling is done in casinos. It is good to have a plan and to follow through. This is great site and the people here are awesome. Have a great gamble free day.

Hey K, Glad to hear things are going well for you. Your camping trip sounded like fun. Your future trip to New York sounds awesome! I have struggled with finding my happiness sometimes also. I seem to place my happiness in others hands instead of putting in my hands where it belongs. Live and learn! Have a great week yourself . Take care.

Hi Maverick, We CG’S always have good intentions and we do mean it at the time. We just have a hard time following through. Who would want to be in our positions? It is a illness. When I looked at it like that, I was able to make more sense of it. You are a good, caring person. Never forget that! Sometimes it is easy for us to lose our self in this disease. You don’t give up the fight and you keep coming back and trying. That’s all you can do. Sometimes we have to take it One Step At A Time! Always know that you have the support of a lot of people here at GT! This is a vicious disease! Keep trying and stay strong!!! You are not alone!

Hi Flo, I made it harder to get to my savings account (like you mentioned above). It does help as the gambling urges stop before I can get money out. Anything to deter us from gambling. Stay strong!
