Have you heard the story of Helen Kehler ?
She is a woman who was blind and deaf. She could not read, see, and hear

Nobody wants to be born in that condition.
If she was given a choice, she would choose to be born under normal circumstances

But her spirit is very remarkable, and she became a legend
She always gives the motivation and encouragement
to people who have physical disabilities

She hopes that all people with disabilities such as herself
can live like everyone else, although this is very difficult to do

A fantastic sentence ever Helen Kehler said:

“It would be a blessing if each person could be blind and deaf
for a few days during his grown-up live. It would make them see
and appreciate their ability to experience the joy of sound”

It’s a grace if each person who had grown to feel blind and deaf for a few days.
That way, everyone will be more appreciating his life, at least when hear the sound

Try to imagine if you became blind and deaf for two or three days
Close your eyes and ears during this time.
Do not allow yourself to see or heard anything

You can’t see the beautiful world,
you can’t see the beautiful flowers,
and you can’t enjoy music or TV shows!
Did you enjoy it? I think not. It will be very painful

I am sure this will remind everyone that
we often forget to be thankful for all that we have

    Many people always complain.
    That’s what often happens.
They don’t appreciate what they already have
In fact, what we have is a treasure which can’t be enjoyed by others

For anyone who doesn’t have legs, walking is an extraordinary treasure

Helen Kehler said that if she could see just one day,
she believe that can do many things,
    including make an interesting article

    We could take a lesson.
If we can appreciate what we have, we could create a better life
We’re not going to complain and grieved! On the contrary, we can always be positive thinking and become a better man

    Parable of a Farmer

Each event has no specific beginning or end and may influence future
events for years or even centuries to come.

An excellent example of life is found in the parable of the farmer.

“There once was a farmer. One day the farmer’s only horse broke out
of the corral and ran away. The farmer’s neighbours all hearing of the horse running away, came to the farmer’s house to view the corral. As they stood there, the neighbours all said “Oh what bad luck!” The farmer replied ‘maybe.’

“About a week later, the horse returned bringing with it a whole herd of wild horses
which the farmer and his son quickly corralled. The neighbours hearing of the
corralling of the horses came to see for themselves. As they stood there looking at the corral filled with horses, the neighbours said “Oh what good luck!” The farmer replied ‘maybe.’

“A couple of weeks later, the farmer’s son’s leg was badly broken when he was thrown from a horse he was trying to break. A few days later the broken leg became infected and the son became delirious with fever. The neighbours all hearing of the incident, came to see the son. As they stood there, the neighbours said “oh what bad luck.” The farmer replied ‘maybe.’

“At that same time in the country, there was a war going on between two rival Warlords. The Warlord of the farmer’s village was involved in this war. In need of more soldiers, he sent one of his captains to the village to conscript young men to fight in the war. When the captain came to take the farmer’s son he found a young man with a broken leg who was delirious with fever. Knowing there was no way the son could fight, the captain left him there. A few days later, the son’s fever broke. The neighbours hearing of the son’s not being taken to fight in the war and of his return to good health all came to see him. As they stood there, each one stated
“oh what good luck!” The farmer replied ‘maybe.’

Then he revealed the secret of his wisdom.
“It is not for us to know what is good or bad.
It is only for us to be fully engaged in the adventure of living,
how can we know what event is ultimately good or bad?

That is the future and we can only know the now
which is never good or bad, only part of the adventure.

    Who knows?”

In life, many things is uncertain and unpredictable
Like a ship sailing in the sea ,
sometime it goes a little off course due to strong winds or currents
this is like the living problems we face everyday
it can sometime throw us off our balance
it is perfectly ok to drift from time to time
it is not the end of the world
but what is more important is the awareness
    and the ability to recognize
and “catch oneself” before it is too late,
    the willingness to change, refocus
and continue to head in the right direction

A stone cutter may strike the rock 99 times with no apparent effect, not even a crack on the surface.
Yet with the hundredth blow, the rock splits in two.

It was not the final blow that did the trick, but all that had gone before.

I may pursue a goal for months without obvious results and become convinced that I m wasting my time. But if I continue going to meeting , sharing about my struggle, taking it one day at a time, and being patient with myself, I may awaken one day , to find that I have changed , seemingly overnight.

I have a gut feel that all these months of faith and hard work will made the changes possible one day and the results would revealed themselves abruptly one day.

It took me a long time to become a addict and
it may take a long time for me to recover.
I must be patient and persistence.

    Dear diary,

I look at my life now and had this strong feeling; I had tried many times in the past but I could not. If it did, it only work for a while and did not last

It was only after I turn to God, my life start to change

The Lord has used me and help me do things that I cannot do in the past.

    Today I remind myself :-
I have to give up my self-will and seek God’s will/I must resist taking back the control or steering wheel/ allow God to work in my life / trust God fully all the way / Turn to God and don’t listen to the devil’s thought.

Thank you Father God, Jesus Christ & Holy Spirit, you are the greatest and the best

    Dear diary,
I was still trying to adapt to the major changes to my working hours. Ever since I was on the 7 pm to 7 am shift, even though it was work 2 days off 2 day, I still feel more tired nowadays as I could not settle into a regular sleeping pattern.

Mum was hospitalised since Friday, she will still be warded for another week. It was depressing in the past, I do not have the money to provide or help out in this kind of situation.

Am feeling grateful to God, I am more loving and responsible now compare to the past, I can now care, contribute and look after my love ones.

Do have concern about how I feel recently, could be due to not having proper rest, feeling tired does affect my thought and feeling. it was a warning sign and a trigger for me, the feeling was a familiar one, one that tell me I have to go ahead to act out and fix my feeling. A good sleep solve everything.

Thank you God, I am grateful to be clean today.

“…look at life events without judgment or interpretation.

Well done Steph! on staying abstinence from slot machines.
During early recovery, it is not uncommon to hear us talk about having thoughts to go to the slots…
Good news is after we stay abstinence for a period of times, these thoughts lessen or go away.

Please bear in mind, that we do not have to follow our feeling or what our mind tell us to do every time, we still have a choice.
We may not be responsible for our addiction but we are responsible for our recovery.

How about setting up a barrier to protect yourself from these places such as applying for self exclusion ban from casino or slot machine joints.

    Keep vigilant always!

One day, you will find and experience freedom, peace of mind and joy in recovery.

    Be patient, be still….

    Blessings

God created all things visible and invisible
Like the visible tree and its invisible root.
If a recovering person is free from gambling
but not deep rooted with spiritual principles.
Any strong winds will uproot the tree
Just like the person is waiting
for some good or bad news to happen and
    he/she will lose his/her sobriety.
    Some things to think about
A recovering person can stop gambling
But the living problems is not going to stop
Everyone can stop gambling but the trick is staying stop

An elder Apache was teaching his grandchildren about life.
He said to them ,”A fight is going on inside me; it is a terrible fight
and it is between two wolves.

One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego.

The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person too.”
They thought about it for a minute
and then one child asked his grandfather,
    “Which wolf will win?”

The old Grandpa simply replied, “The one you feed.

Are you feeding your addiction or your recovery?
