I was really touched by this and even if someone is not a believer, I think this poem raises important points about simply asking for help when it’s needed.

    Thanks

I’m glad to see you posting Skevoula.

Have a think about strengthening your support network by finding at least one person (friend or family member) to talk to face to face…to be your “phone buddy” when you’re in a vulnerable position. Then think about possibly seeking counselling, going to Gamblers Anonymous and working on building up your emotional strength and developing new coping strategies.

You can do this Skevoula…and I’m looking forward to seeing the changes you make!

    Take care

    Hi Andy

I’d really like for you to talk to others in “real time”, I can hear how distressed you are and I think being in a group of your peers and feeling their acceptance and understanding of you could help you to feel a little less lost. Of course you’ll get excellent advice there too. The group times can be found here: https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/en/online-support-groups-problem-gamblers-their-friends-and-family

If you feel more comfortable, come and talk to one of our counsellors/online advisors on our helpline. https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/en/problem-gambling-support-helpline

I hope we get to talk soon.

    Hi Tampioni

This site is for support and advice only and can’t be used to support causes or lobby in any way. Can I suggest that if you are dissatisfied with the self exclusion policy and an operators adherence to it, you contact the Gambling Commission as the licensing agreement explicitly refers to it?

    Thanks

The reason we’ve cut down on the amount of groups we run is because we found people didn’t know when anyone else would be present and they kept “missing “each other. Even when we added the “meeting place” forum we found people didn’t really use it to arrange a time to chat with others so the problem persisted.
We felt that if we reduced the groups to cover a shorter time people would know when to log in and would be more likely to catch people they know.
We’re open to new ideas so if you think you may have a solution which will allow us to provider longer…but still effective coverage at weekends, please let us know 🙂

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

    And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂

    Take care

    Hi James

Make sure you check out the group schedule for tonight. If you find yourself feeling drawn to the poker game or you contemplate rewarding yourself for NOT going to the poker game by gambling some other way, we’re here.

    Take care
