Hi Micky,
So glad to read your world in is colour -no two days are the same and we can choose any time of any day to make a fresh start . Well done on getting back into recovery so quickly( if I have read correctly ). I hope those pounds build up really fast for you.i-did-itParticipantHi Charles . I checked over chat and think u have made a wise decision – will miss u of course on Friday nights but life balance is important !
i-did-itParticipantHi Lynda, I can really relate to those bible verses you have chosen to share . I wonder what makes us return to play again and again with the serpent which bites us ?
I have put a gambling blocker on my phone and on my internet devices and that helps a lot . Perhaps you could do the same? The one for my phone costs around £10 per month and saves me hundreds every month .
I really hope the support you get on here helps – you should also try the support groups if you haven’t already .

I have been trying to kick this “habit” for many years . I’m not sure if I missed t but did u buy that gambling blocker for your computer and phone- if not please do so immediately .
Keep posting !i-did-itParticipantHi Laura, great post – so glad to hear u are on the up – it’s great to hear u are getting close to debt free- how wonderful that will be. It’s good that you are planning to keep your savings safe – imagine what that will be like- debt free with savings- bet you can’t wait !
i-did-itParticipantChez , I do believe we are sick in that we have an illness – like many illnesses however it can be controlled.
Is there GA near you ? Where do gamble ? Can you cut off access ? Even after a few days gamble free your hear will start to clear and you will be able to face things and think clearer . I think it would be a good idea to contact a debt advice charity to get help with your debts – there is always away to sort them. I hope this helps a little . I hope to see him a support group.i-did-itParticipantRem to bring no money – not even a fiver to try just in case !!
Hope it goes well!i-did-itParticipantHi Mg,
Welcome to the site and well done on recognising that you have a gambling addiction . I think it would be a good idea for you to leave your money at home and walk to the casino and ask them to ban you . It will be a little embarrassing but it will also mean that you cannot go there so conveniently .
The second thing is maybe you should have someone else control your access to cash for the inmediate future .
Finally is there a branch of AA near you where u could go for support .It is a horrible addiction which leave us feeling very depressed but taking action sooner rather than later can save you a lot of pain. Keep posting and also maybe you could visit some of the groups on here .hope this helps
i-did-itParticipantWow Maverick – you have done so well. I have never got that much free time behind me- just shows what you are capable of . Keep strong
i-did-itParticipantHi Sean, I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry at your thread . I find it funny that you are so like me in your thoughts – especially about the raising money bit- but I also wanna scream at you to stop being like me !i have take on extra work, sold on eBay etc and made literally thousands of pounds extra to pay off my debts -unfortunately because I have a gambling addiction the money went to support my online gambling .
It is easy for you to be gamble free right now – you have no money . You are stinging from the realisation of what u have done . (I am stinging today too and have no desire to gamble)I am not knocking you – indeed I congratulate you on ur gamble free time – but please listen and hear .
The people who have taken the time to write comprehensive replies on your thread have all been where you are , have all had the same thoughts – we have googled how to make money fast , we have looked at online methods to make money and we have all continued to gamble because we are so addictied we found it really hard to stop . We all wanted the money back – but the real secret is to let the money go – draw a line under it and put it down to experience and let it go !I am so sorry that I am better at giving advice than following it , but I wish I was where the others who have written on your thread are today . Listen Sean it will save you years of hiding the truth and having a tortured mind !
i-did-itParticipantHi SJ, yes u have nailed fear – it tries to take our bravery -its evil eyes bore into us and leave holes behind . Thanks for reposting this. It has me thinking about how I can block its gaze And what I need to do to fill the holes left behind .
12 February 2017 at 11:38 pm in reply to: My story- hoping to nail it before the wheels come fully off! #36091i-did-itParticipantHi. misterc, I think I should point out there’s probably very few people on here who haven’t had big wins, who don’t think it will happen again (it might) and who also don’t think next time they will cash out and keep it ( never will as this is now an addiction).
I don’t mean to sound harsh but borrow money from ur girlfriend and Buy a gambling blocker for your computer. Cancel and cut up all cards and hand control of your wages account to your girlfriend . Put as many barriers as you can into place and try really hard to stop completely . I can guarantee you one thing – you will never be able to gamble normally again.
You can learn from others or if you are like me , you can learn the slow , painful way.
I really hope u find my post helpfuli-did-itParticipantHi Paul , it’s hard when we have to face the consequences but you will get through it . You are sounding strong and determined . Make sure you have every conceivable barrier in place so that when u do come into money it is impossible for you to gamble .
Anyone you could borrow a bit of food from? Getting hungry will lower your mood – try to reach out and ask for helpYou will make it you know
i-did-itParticipantMIcky- ordinary is great- no painful hangover ! It’s nice you shared that ordinary days are great days
