Ja sam kršćanin – volim Boga! Žao mi je ako vas ovo moje objavljivanje vrijeđa.

Mislim da niste bili ovdje kad sam se borio pa se moj post ni na koji način nije odnosio na vas.

Nisam zapravo siguran kako je to što sam rekao da su mi ljudi govorili koje radnje poduzeti bilo korisnije od citiranja klišea na mene shvaćeno kao da ne mogu govoriti o Bogu?

I am a Christian – I love God! I’m sorry if my posting thhis offends you. 

I don’t think you were here when I was struggling so my post referred to you in no way.

I’m not actually sure how my saying people telling me which actions to take were more helpful than quoting cliches at me has been perceived to mean I can’t  talk about God ?

Ik denk niet dat je hier was toen ik het moeilijk had, dus mijn post verwees op geen enkele manier naar jou.

Ik weet eigenlijk niet zeker hoe mijn uitspraken van mensen die me vertelden welke acties ik moest ondernemen nuttiger waren dan het citeren van clichés naar mij, werd opgevat als te betekenen dat ik niet over God kan praten?

Ben je deze helemaal kwijt?

Eu sou cristão – amo a Deus! Lamento se a minha postagem isso ofende você.

Eu não acho que você estava aqui quando eu estava lutando, então minha postagem não se referia a você de forma alguma.

Não tenho certeza de como o fato de dizer às pessoas que me dizem quais ações tomar são mais úteis do que citar clichês para mim significa que não posso falar sobre Deus.

Sorry about the autocorrect with your name.
I was not referring to you at all in my post .
I was referring to years ago when I was having relapse after relapse – and what I found helpful and unhelpful.
I was also agreeing that no one deserves to bashed after a relapse – we all want to stop -it just not easy.
I am a Christian and have no problem with anything anyone posts.
Not sure what has triggered your post on my thread – but best leave it there.

Hi Meghan I totally agree. We don’t need to be bashed when we are down. I used to receive many posts which I found upsetting after a relapse – I guess people got frustrated with me throwing my life away. The ones which really annoyed me were the unhelpful GA cliches and misquoted and misinterpreted bible “quotes”. Now that I’m in recovery I know the advice that really helped was the advice telling me what actions to take. I have to say since Steev came on here I have turned my life around- he advised actions without the annoying cliches like “ god helps those who help themselves” or “the things we don’t want to hear are the things we need to hear”. ,” we are only as sick as our secrets”. There are many similar quotes and I honestly think they made it more difficult to reach recovery. I agree some of us need to hear the message very directly but please advise actions we can take – we can go to church if we want a sermon!

One of the things I found most helpful in stopping was to get a gambling blocker. I use gamban. You can get a free trial. If we could rely on willpower or mindset, none of us would be addicted.

Another thing which helped me was having a card I cannot use online. So I cancelled my bank card, requested a new one and when It arrived I got someone else to scratch off the back three numbers. I can still use it in shops but not online. You will need someone to help with this because first time I tried it myself and my brain automatically remembered the number .

If you open your own thread (go to bottom of page and select new topic) you will get lots of advice. Also there are support groups on here which might help you .

Een van de dingen die ik het meest nuttig vond bij het stoppen, was het krijgen van een gokblokker. Ik gebruik gamban. U kunt een gratis proefversie krijgen. Als we konden vertrouwen op wilskracht of mentaliteit, zou niemand van ons verslaafd zijn.

Een ander ding dat me hielp, was het hebben van een kaart die ik niet online kan gebruiken. Dus ik annuleerde mijn bankkaart, vroeg om een nieuwe en toen hij arriveerde, liet ik iemand anders de drie achterste nummers wegkrabben. Ik kan het nog steeds gebruiken in winkels, maar niet online. Je hebt iemand nodig om je hierbij te helpen, want de eerste keer dat ik het zelf probeerde, onthielden mijn hersenen automatisch het nummer.

Als je je eigen topic opent (ga naar de onderkant van de pagina en selecteer een nieuw onderwerp) krijg je veel advies. Er zijn hier ook steungroepen die u kunnen helpen.

Uma das coisas que achei mais útil para interromper foi conseguir um bloqueador de jogos de azar. Eu uso gamban. Você pode obter um teste gratuito. Se pudéssemos contar com força de vontade ou mentalidade, nenhum de nós seria viciado.

Outra coisa que me ajudou foi ter um cartão que não posso usar online. Então cancelei meu cartão do banco, solicitei um novo e quando ele chegou, pedi a outra pessoa para riscar os três números anteriores. Ainda posso usá-lo em lojas, mas não online. Você vai precisar de alguém para ajudar com isso porque na primeira vez eu tentei sozinho e meu cérebro automaticamente se lembrou do número.

About the card – I decided I didn’t need help when I ordered my new card and like you my addicted brain instantly logged the number. Next time hubby opened the envelope and scratched it. A few things we need help with!

Glad you got your car sorted. My huge body and worn out looking face would indicate that I actually wasn’t unscathed! Lol!
