It is so good to read such a positive post.
I am afraid I have lost momentum with the site

I feel you are a great example for others Monica- to motivate us to turn our lives around . It can be done at any age – too often I find myself thinking about what could hve been – the future seems to huge – the problems I have created for the future seems too huge. I guess whatever our earning power we can tackle them .

I didn’t realise the council tax situation has been resolved – that is such a relief- I do believe God will restore everything the thief has taken. There are so many bible verses on restoration and I know your trust and commitment to God and living a Christian life is playing a major part in your recovery.

I hope to catch up in chat over the weekend .

I, like Lizbeth, find myself appalled that your mother and sister would make fun of you for earning an honest living . I find myself wondering why they think they are worthy of judging anyone by their job . I feel jealousy is a factor a good old predicatable LiZ has taken control of her life and is doing well and maybe that threatens them a little .

I don’t know why exactly but your comment about sensing hope has filled with hope and the expectation of good things in my life ! Yes I do feel like I have turned a corner .

My cards stay blocked until I contact the bank to get them unblocked – which will be never because then I will have to discuss my dirty little secret with someone !

So I have full use of my cards except for online .
If I need to make an online purchase I can use hubby’s card .
This is the best barrier ever – it doesn’t involve messing up my phone, getting rid of my cards or interfering with any other aspect of my life – just online transactions !
Yes this has given me huge hope!

What a great decision Kathryn – and how cool it willbe to save so much money. Well done on getting through day one – the early days are difficult. Have you any plans for ur money you save? Are you going to save it in a particular way (piggy bank?) or just notice the difference in how much you have ?

I’m sorry your IBS flaired up again – I am thinking if it is often a stress response could u take a relaxing supplement like l- theanine during times of stress – could that possibly help ?

The quiz sounds like to was good fun- you have to get competitive – makes it interesting !
I am not surprised you feel tired – you have a full time job and the travel is like another half-job in itself – added toth fact you have not been feeling the best . Once again the unsinkable Mrs Brown comes to mind – nothing can keep you down and you even went out and socialised on top of all that !

You seem to be developing a good balance between relaxation and work activities. You are really working recovery in an inspirational way .

Well put Charles – I always say a barrier gives us time to think – it takes away the automatic pilot gambling .
They are barriers – not cures !

I would always lend, pay for others and generally go out of my way to be kind – i think it’s part of that whole low self esteem thing – where we fee we have to do self sacrificing stuff to make others like us. Perhaps that’s too simplistic – the sad thing is the more we try the less people respect us , and then the lower our self esteem gets !

Yes gambling has messed up a lot of stuff for a lot of us on here. Getting a blocker is an excellent idea and you always mentioned joining Gamstop.
Another thing which helps many people is having someone else take care of their money and just having an allowance to get by .
Well done on seeking help – it’s time to walk away from your past to a great new future .

Where do you get the energy – do you find your energy has increased after stopping gambling – I struggle to get out of bed at weekends after sometimes it’s 6pm before I can be bothered to get up .

I am reading your posts and thinking how life could be ? Weekends away instead of lying in bed frantically trying to find money to cover my latest gambling spree. Time spent with friends instead of hiding away.
Gonna sign off now before I drag everyone else’s mind down .
