Good to see you back posting carole, you are blessed to have been able to help someone in this way. I’ve been on that list for years and never had a call up! Some pain yes but what a gain ๐Ÿ™‚

Good post laura. Exactly right – manageable pieces. That’s how one day at a time works and it’s also the way to deal with anything big and scary. That applies to pretty much anything really, whether it’s a big bill that can be broken down into a manageable monthly budgeted amount (certainly worked for me when i got married) or cleaning our house a room at a time . keep posting

    Hi Lizbeth,

I don’t get the chance to read as many threads as I would like but I’ve just managed to read through the last month or so of yours. Thanks for some inspiring posts. You show both how many great things recovery gives us and also how it also allows to deal with the not so good stuff as well. Well done and congratualations on your gambel free time.

    Hi Lindamarie and welcome.

Reading the aove posts I would say in some ways you are lucky in that you already know the things that have worked for you in the past; GA and counselling have both helped you be stronger. Get back to what was helping before, keep posting here as well of course and you can be stronger still. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good to see you posting Howanan. I hope the news from the hospital is good. If you are still around and want to talk, then a Community Group starts in a few minutes, maybe pop in and see us there. Stay strong, one day at atime.

“I told him that my success was a reflection of the way he has treated me since he started there and that his support has made a difference.”

It’s great that you got such positive feedback at work. Give yourself some more deserved credit as well though. Your success is also a reflection of your recovery. Being gamble free you are now concentrating on work and, no doubt, other things in your life without the distractions and stress that a preoccupation with gambling gives us. That is what your boss and those around you are seeing. Well done.

    Hi Buffdazza,

Well done on coming back here and being honest. Whatever form of recovery we use, Gordon House, GA, or whatever it’s only as good as the effort we put into it. Will going back to Beckenham and giving it 100% “cure” you? No, it’ll give you tools that wil help you live life without gambling. Like any tools it is then up to us how/if we use them. The same with GA really, if we put barriers in place, work recovery, address character traits etc then it can help us lead a gamble free life. if we sit at the back of the room dont say much and find reasons not to apply the thingsd we here, well it is less likely to do so.

If you think that going back to beckenham is the right thing to do then it IS the right thing to do. This time give it that 100% and use the tools it gives you. Then of course stick with the outreach programme, GA meetings etc to help maintain recovery.

What things have you put in place since you gambled? You said you “allowed yourself money”? Who can hold your money for you? How can you make it so that you can’t “allow yourself money” without being accountable for it? Keep posting and using the support you have here and at GA while you wait to go back to beckenham.

Hi P, I’ve just seen a post of yours saying you are missing the groups. Is there a problem getting in? The group times are listed and you enter the groups in the same way that you enter the unmoderated groups, which you say you have managed to do. If there is a technical problem then email the office and Im sure they can sort it out. Hope to see you in a group soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Carole, it was good to talk to you just now. I remembered a link I was going to send you. Take a look at http://www.videojug.com
Type in “how to knit” on the search and there are several demo videos there. It’s actually a site I use a lot and you can see demos of things from how to plant potatoes to how to do various DIY jobs.
