Hi Sleepless and welcome to the forums. well done on looking for help, as you can see, you are not alone with this problem.

Read the other stories here, you will see some fo the thigns that are working for others and apply them to your own situation. For instanc, install a blocker on your PC and you won’t be able to set up any more of those online accounts. gamblock.com is one such blocker though there are others.

Is there anyone close to you who knows about your gambling? Or that it is a problem? They could help with accountability as well.

Use all teh support that you have available, keep posting here, maybe try your local Gamblers Anonymous meeting. None of us can do it on our own, use all the support that you have available. Keep posting

Hi whatif and welcome to the forum. well done on looking for help. Going “cold turkey” would be trying to do it on your own, you are no longer alone – you have support here, lots of other help avaialble as well – Gamblers Anonymous, gamcare, counselling and more, Barriers that you can put in place, like the self exclusion.

Keep posting and let us know the positive steps youa re taking.

    Hi Monkey.

Well done on looking for help here. I hope you are reading the other stories in the forum, you will see a lot of things that you can apply to your own situation.

I’d contact then again, closing your account is a great start but of course if we close something we can reopen it. Ask them to ban you, take away that option.

    Keep posting.

Hi JRB, well done on taking those steps. One way that this addiction differes from some others is that it masquerades as the solution to the problem. Well done on recognising that it is of course the cause of our problems, not that solution.

Keep posting and stay strong, one day at a time.

Willeye, I have to say that here is not a good place to post about specific bets, odds, stakes, individual wins or losses. It’s not helping you or those reading to be honest. It’s just torturing yourself and giving your addiction more oxygen.

The question is – do you want to stop? Is what you “love” about gambling worth the chit that follows? I for one don’t wish you luck on that bet. I don’t wish you ill either of course but as you say it will just give you that “one more punch” more fuel for your addiction.

Have you been reading the other stories here? You will see the sort of thing that has helped others stop. Which oif those thigns can you apply to your own situation? You are right of course, ban for 6 months and we are back gambling. Exclude form one site and we find another. How about a blocker for your PC that will stop you visiting any gambling site? How about not talking to your friends about gambling so avoid that trigger? Are tehy ral friends? Do you do anying with them/talk to them about anythign other than gambling? If so then tell them you are trying to stop and do other thigns. If not then “gambling acquaintance” is a better description than “friend”

We all know that when we lose everythign we can’t gamble – no money = no gambling. How can you use that knowledge? Who could hold your money for you? Who could you be accountable to for what you spend?

What you have lost is gone,we can’t change the past. As you have said – no win is big enough and we chase losses so the question is are you going to take some of the tough steps that WILL help you stop[ gamblign now? Or at a later date when you are even deeper in trouble?

I hope to read about the positive steps you are taking.

Hello bish180b and welcome to the forum. Well done on looking for help here. With regards to your health problems then of course keep talking to your doctor and using the support and medication that he suggests.

When it coms to the gambling then you have a lot of help and support available to you. You are not alone with this problem as you will have seen from reading the other stories here. You will also have read the success stories – what are they doing that you can start applying to your own situation?

It sounds like you still have bets running. However they turn out, win, lose or break even one thing won’t change – you have a gambling problem. IF your bets do turn out favourably then it will be important to remember that and to address that problem. You have a lot of help available to you – here, similar sites, Gamblers Anonymous, counselling, even residential support.

Start using that support now, start puttinghtings in place and you can have a great gamble free future – one day at a time.

    Keep posting.
