    Hi Jonny,

Maybe try a gambling blocker for your PC. http://www.gamblock.com is one but there are others.

Try looking at it this way, having your mum hold your money for a while is actually giving you MORE control over it than you have had in a long time. None of us have much control over it when we are gambling.

One day at a time is all any of us need to do. You don’t have to do it on your own either, post here daily, get to that GA meeting. Use all the support you can get.

Ok, so I guess the answer to all of those questions could be yes………but only if you let it! 🙂

What do you want to do? What things have you enjoyed doing in the past but let lapse? What things have you never tried/done but now want to? What things that you haven’t yet thought of are you going to fall in love with doing?

We can’t replace the massive highs that gambling sometimes gave us, we don’t get the deep, deep trughs either. You will find other things and find a new balance.

Good post Mav. A saying that is even olde than YOu is – actions speak louder than words. Well done on the actions that you have taken.

Financially if things will be manageable till you are 75 great, if it means living like a hermit then not so great. Lots of options around these days, maybe speak to the Citizens Advice Bureau or Step change.

    Hi Consigliere,

You are right of course, the amounts someone wager are all relative really and not on their own an indicator of a problem. For me the best indcator would be the 20 questions that they ahve on the Gamblers Anonymous website.

    http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/ga/content/20-questions

Thye are relavant whether or not anyone decides to go to GA meetings.

Only you can decide as to whether you ahve a problem. Things tend to be progressive though so it may be that you have to decide whether to take action now, or later when in deeper trouble.

I too loved gambling, comes a time though that we have to decide whether what we love about gambling is worth the chit that follows – we cant have one without the other unfortunately. I hope this helps, I hope you make the right decision – keep posting.

Hi Nancy, so sorry to hear of your loss, my commiserations.

Well done on the time you spent being gamble free. If you have now found yourself tempted back to the casino then maybe now would be a good time to get yourself banned from there. Focus on the other things you do in life, keep in touch with the support you have here as well.

    Keep posting.
