charlesModeratorHi cactus. well done on looking for help. Read the other stories here – you will see a lot of things that you will relate to. You will also see the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?
Telling your parents would help; they could help you with financial accountability.
Those debts don’t sounds manageable on a long term basis. There is a lot of free financial advice her ein the UK. Talk to the Citizens Advice Bureau or to Stepchange. They would talk through your options and help you get things to a manageable position.
Use the support that you ahve available, keep posting here, get to a Gamblers Anonymous meeting.
Keep posting and let us know the positive steps that you are going to take.

charlesModeratorHi Sad and Hurt and welcome to the site. I am sure Velvet will respond to you after the weekend but I just wanted to say that there is a lot of support available to you. I hope you copy and paste your post and start your own thread. Just scroll to the bottom of the Forum and click on New Topic.
You have some tough decisions to make and using support for yourself will help you be in a stronger place to make those decisions.
Keep posting but please start your own thread so that you can get the support that you deserve.
charlesModeratorHi Avala, well done on looking for help.
Firstly I have to say that we would not encourage people to swap phone numbers etc on an open forum, this is the world wide web and while we are a support group people should apply the same precautions they would anywhere else on the web.
Please read the other stories here, you will see the sort of things that have helped others stop gambling. Apply them to your own situation. You might also find the Gambling therapy App useful – details are at the top of this forum.
If you have urges you can of course also post about them here, it makes you accountable for what happens next.
If you gamble online then we would recommend getting a blocker for your phone, Betfilter.com is one though there are others.
Financial accountability also helps – both in restricting your access to gambling funds and knowing you will be found out can be a good deterrent. Maybe a family member could help with that?
We also have live groups anbd a helpline you can connect to.
ha ve you heard of gamblers anonymous? It would also be a good plae to get support and of course you can get someones phone number there – a lot safer that putting contact details on the www.
Keep posting and I look forward to hearing the positive steps that you are taking.

charlesModeratorHi Jacquespaul, well done on looking for help.
Read the other stories here, you will read a lot that you will relate to. You will also see the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?
Get yourself banned from that site.
One thing we know from our gambling is that when we lose all our money we can’t gamble – no money = no gambling. Use that knowledge. Don’t leave that money sat there tempting you – put it somewhere you can’t access it to gamble with. Who could help you with accountability? A family member maybe?
You can stop gambling, it is important though to use support – if we could do it on our own we wouldnt be in the **** in the first place! Keep posting here, keep reading the other stories. Check out your local GA meetign as well.
Hopefully see you in a group again soon and I look forward on reading the positive steps that you are taking.
