Why do I have such a difficult time with gambling. Every thing in my life is good. I have 3 great kids, a great wife. A fantastic Job. I fell good about life, but
I travel a lot and get bored and always find a casino and intend to spend a $100 and end up blowing 2-3 thousand dollars. I have been
able to hide it so far, but its starting to catch up to me. I been gambling free for about 1.5 hours right now. How do I make it a week, a month,
a year. -

Here in these forums. Read other people’s stories and the advice that has been given to them.
Boredom is a trigger for gambling for me. Connection was what made a difference. Talking to people on-line keeps me occupied and away from casinos and other places where I could be tempted …. BUT I am not saying what works for me would work for you too – you have to find your own way.
I would consider talking to a counselor though – to work out what is behind your gambling (there is always something else) and sorting that out. It might sound expensive at first – but you might save a lot more than money in the long run.
I wish you well.

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!
Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.
As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)
And on that note….
I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂
Take care

I would also like to know how to make it longer than 1 day gamble free. I have made it to 16 days once, thats the longest Ive gone.
I’m hoping for longer this time around.
