I’m 36. I’m addicted to slot machines, real ones and online.
I used to play slots only every now and then, and could take it or leave it – mainly because I never won anything much on them. But about two years ago I had a few good wins and then a few jackpots and got hooked. I have a parent who is also addicted and this has increased the problem because it is difficult to quit when they encourage you though I’m not blaming anyone else.
I think its the video slots with bonus rounds that really got me hooked, the old style ones didn’t have this same appeal, and however despite all my good intentions I could never stop after a win and needed more and more, and started chasing what I had lost and end up with not much to live on or not being able to do things I had planned, and even ending up borrowing money.
The amounts I gambled is probably fairly small compared to a lot of you guys or it seems that way having read a few stories but it has really helped me reading peoples stories and how bad it can get and what I have spent on slots probably adds up a lot over the two years though I have no idea of a figure.
I made the decision to quit 11 days ago, and went 8 days without gambling at all but two days ago I had a relapse although only a small one. I have now gone two days since.
I actually keep a private journal and prefer it that way but will post here at milestones like 1 week, 1 month etc… and I am a creative person so I will be writing poems for the poetry corner. -
