Hello Sherrie, I read your latest post and after a bit of umming and ahhing to myself I am respecting your decison to lock the thread. I couldn’t not offer support though so I’m writing here. I’m writing here not as a member of the GT support staff, I’m writing here as me, a fellow CG, to a friend in trouble.
First, a big well done on leaving home, a brave thing to do but you have shown yourself to be a brave lady, NO ONE needs to put up with violence whether that’s physical, verbal or mental abuse.
You have shown bravery in the past, you are showing it now and you CAN carry on showing that bravery. Check out this link https://www.gamblingtherapy.org.uk/en-GB/listresources.aspx or just click on "resources" above. There is lots of support these days for peole who are, or have, suffered abuse, USE that support. Maybe connect to the helpline here when it opens tomorrow morning
You DO have lots of options when it comes to getting support, with both addressing your gambling and all the other crap that is going on at the moment. Cutting yourself off from that support is just going to make things worse I’m afraid, so I hope you get back to posting, getting to GA etc
I’d also go through the proper channels to complain about that ****** of a policeman who spoke to you the other day. Fortunately officers with that sort of attitude are a distinct minority these days so make sure he gets the chit he deserves. Complaining will also put you in touch with the RIGHT sort of officers who WILL be able to point you in the direction of any other support that is out there for those who have suffered abuse.
I hope to see you back here posting and in groups, I NEED someone who doesn’t always agree with me 😉 Your input has helped many on here Sherrie , now is the time to focus on YOU.
I will close with the best advice I can ever give anyone on here, whether thats to help them stop gambling or pretty much for ANY problem in life. USE the support that is available.
