I start “trading” more than 15 years ago, when a friend told me that in Forex, you can get 400X leverage… I start there and after trading demo accounts, reading books, seminars, etc
I loss around 10k the next year… then I move from forex to stocks and futures, which was making money, and then a big loss… after a lot of research, time and energy invested… I move to selling options, which work very good
for some years, and then a big loss… in the meanwhile it was hard to focus in my job, my mind was always thinking in new strategies… it work very good for few years, but then I take some loses… Afraid of losing more,
I start withdraw money from my trading accounts, to buy rental properties with mortgages, in that way, since the money is invested in the property, I didn’t have access, when “hot opportunities” show in the market…

Then after a few years of good returns, with the money that I keep in “trading accounts” I start offering my “managing services” to friends and family, in general they made money, but all this take me a lot of stress, time and energy

I also take big loans to make more in “hot opportunities” since I was paying around 5% a year in interest, and expect to make 20% a year,
seem like a good business, until I get another loss, that make me sick… it was hard for me to sleep
some nights, my stomach and back still hurt….

I’m happy that in my friends and family accounts, I didn’t take too much risk, so they have a small loss, but they still have a gain since inception…

After making the GA 20 QUESTIONS, i start to understand that maybe I have a gambling problem…
Being able to walk away from a bad gamble is a skill every gambler should have, and that includes gambling that’s bad for your health or social life.

I want to move from active trading, to passive buy and hold, without leverage, and move money to pay my loans, and after that to continue investing in rental properties…

Even if with active trading I can make in theory, 20% or 30% more per year, than a passive investment, it’s really worth all the time, energy, and loss opportunity in my job, which I loss?
I would like to build a portfolio, that don’t need my attention more than a few times per year, something like “the all weather portfolio” or “Harry Browne Permanent Portfolio”
I am keep posting to stay close from this forum’s community and to always be reminded that I am a gambler

Thinking of all the vacations, and time with my family, when my mind was “in the markets” or watching the quotes in the phone…
or when I have some “paper loss” and can’t enjoy these vacations, make me sad… but the best is yet to come!

any comment or advise will be appreciate.

I will keep this one, the other one, didn’t receive comments…

I read today, in another forum, that was really valuable for me: “win lead to euphoria, a feeling that you are invincible so you will bet higher”

Last year after a few years of good winnings, I Borrowing Money, lied to banks, to “invest” in the high probability options trades (HPT) that I understand need to work… in the last 3 weeks I lost a lot of money, maybe the gains of 2 years, and some of the borrowing money… I have reduce positions hoping that will recover the money, but I’m sick of this game, and want to stop…and move to passive investing…

another impression that make me think, is watching and paying people that make low payment jobs, maybe $15/hour, and I win and loss thousands of dollars in a day… so need to stop this, respect money, and invest only passive investments, that don’t require my attention more than 2 or 3 times per year, without leverage, and that over time give 4% to 10%/year, very conservative…

      I made the test

      https://www.gamblersanonymous.org/ga/content/20-questions

and with my current option selling strategy, results:

      Yes to 10 questions

Most compulsive gamblers will answer ‘Yes’ to at least 7 of these questions.

      2) With the next passive buy and hold strategy, results:

      Yes to 2 questions

Today, I close all the positions in my main account… maybe it will go up soon, but the pain was too much, and this can damage my health… now that I’m in cash in this account, I will move this money to pay debts…

The book, easy way to stop gambling, has valuable ideas, to remove the desire to gamble… I don’t have any desire to sell an option at this moment… I’m moving to passive investing…
