I briefly stayed at GH in 2004 – at the time, I had been gambling for my whole life, gambled probably 1/4 million -which had taken me into crime
My next stop after GH was a stay in prison for my crime
I never forgot GH – and even though they warned my wife of the problems of living with a gambler especially with 2 young children, I managed to keep clean
I had to sign my house over, lost my job everything
BUT – I have turned it around – Another 4 years, and i will have bought my own house – mortgage free. I have worked 10+ years in the same job – and am respected in it more than i ever have been, as I am working instead of gambling

I would be lying if i said i had never bet again, or never been tempted, but when i have it has been a very small amount

GH labelled me as one of their most psychotic cases at the time, so what i am saying to all out there is
      1) GH – thankyou
      2) Gamblers – never give up giving up – and try to do it before it gets you into any more trouble

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

      And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂

      Take care

      The Gambling Therapy Team

PS: Let me just remind you to take a look at our
privacy policy and terms and conditions so you know how it all works!

Hi AA. I read your post last week . I have very little internet access but the amazing thing about your post is every time I get an urge to gamble (which is very very often) i get a corresponding memory of this post.
It has filled me with hope and really motivated me. Thank you for sharing. I would love to hear more about your road to success!
