my name is Lewent and I started to Gambling 12 years ago with a small amount and only 1 web site sportingbet.. they offered me a bonus and I send 100 Usd and I had it back 200 usd with bonus. I started to play live backgammon, slots, and often live sporting bets. I tried to stop it several times. but I lost my 10-12 months salary very soon. and I lost my girlfriend because of the argues because of stress of the games. and next years I played more and more. I won thousands of dollars but I always tried to win more.
then I lost more. I take 1 credit card. then 3 to play more.5..6..8..10.. I have lots of credit cards which is equal to my 30 months salary. I used them to play gamble and won back which I lost. but unlucky I always lost in last minutes..or with just 1 games..
so today I would have 1 house+1 car+1 wife and children maybe..
but there is nothing except for debits of all of the credit cards which I have to work 18 months to pay remaining of them.
total lost is 100.000 usd in last years.. and lots of lies to family and friends. Today, I closed approximately 50 accounts of differnet web sites which I am a member . I don’t want to play again . I don’t eant to lose more. no stress. I tried it 3-4 times but yesteraday my 3 friends took my credit cards to prevent me and I give a word to them that I won’t play again it. I hope I will be succeed.

Well done on starting your own journal LW!

Compulsive gambling is a progressive disease which destroys lives. Things will not improve for a gambler until we stop gambling. As soon as we take the first step and follow the advice we are given, we will begin to see an improvement in our lives.
Try to be patient. Take all the help you can get and keep postponing your next bet!
It is possible to stop gambling one day at a time!
      Keep posting!

It is great you have taken this step to improve your life by stopping gambling, some days it seems impossible but it can be done on a day at a time approach. Don’t gamble today.. or just for this hour, then dont gamble the next hour, if you get that impulse to gamble string it out.. stretch it out, do something else and get busy.. find other things to fill your time with..

thank you for your supportive comments. I will tell about a few moments which I don’t forget. big amounts which I lost.
for example; a few years ago. it was a special friendly match of Portugal-Cape Verde. I was sure that Portugal would be won the match. and I bet 5000 TL and it was salary of 5 months. bet rate was only 1,10. I phoned to my cousin to learn result and learnt that was 0-0. and lost it. to win back this money bet more and more. lost and lost. Bet sites usually ask to deposit and give extra bonus. but when you ask to withdraw they wait until you cancel it. because they know that you will want to play more and try to win more.

Hi LW., many of us who play online have had that feeling of being cheated out of our winnings. Maybe a bonus you didn’t ask for is added on and you can’t withdraw until you play it 200 times. I think however it is good to remember that those sites were designed to make money for the owners… Not us!! No matter how much we win we will always gamble it again until we come away with nothing. That Is because we are compulsive gamblers. If we withdraw today we will be so tempted to go back and repeat out win. There is no winning for us with gambling. You are far from alone in losing months and months of your salary. What you need to do is let it go, draw a line under it. A compulsive gambler will never win it back!! Start again financially!! You can pay off debts, save and have a better life. Yes it will take time but it can be done!!The money you lost is gone!! Forever!! Let it go!!!
