So tonight after all these years 13 in total I finally plucked up the courage to do it, to let go of the last bastion of false hope and delusion that in my case is ..or now was Betfair.

I have self excluded not for 6 months or a year or even 2 but Permanently . That’s it now, I;m so pig sick of losing money of lying and being moody and deceitful to my wife and family.

apart from anything else I am bored of it, bored of sport , I never did play the slots or casino or even poker it was always sport for me and I realised a long time ago that betfair was the only hope I had, in reality there was no hope, its gambling, you may win one day or week or month but it ALWAYS BEATS YOU IN THE END EVERY SINGLE TIME,  I had systems and knowledge and even inside info at times but so what? It really doesnt matter because I am a compulsive type and we cannot stop so we a re alweays losers, It is nfunny how it has been going lately, I have really just lost interest, I have recently landed a great job close to home and betting had no place in my life for the past 4 months so when I got back into it a couple of times I really was annoyed at myself for even botering to bet, so tonight was the last straw I excluded forever that is it folks, adios to any type of pointless pursuits and hello to my new life free of betfair. Wish me luck!

when you are a compulsive gambler and losing as we always do we do feel like zeroes. And it can get worse than that. It is always a good time to stop but landing the new job is a great incentive. Not a year from now or two or three. Instead of betting more and wasting all you can gain from it. You will likely find you rebound pretty quickly with a steady and good income.

Try and plan ahead what you will do to help build natural feel good chemicals. Walking in nature, squash, tennis, jogging or some physical activity. Find some new hobbies to keep you busy and occupied and feeling fulfilled.

It is about making some good life changes and choices. So happy for you. Well done on excluding! Hope you keep coming back for support.

      take care,
      Laura

Hello Zero no Hero and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)

      And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂

      Take care

      Hi Zero
I won’t wish you luck because it is you and your determination that will carry you forward, not luck.
I will, however, watch your progress and I will be cheering you on from the sidelines as you begin your healthy, positive, gamble-free life.
If I didn’t know you can do this I wouldn’t be writing to you now
      Well done
      Keep posting
      Velvet

Just checking in to see how you are doing? Blocking your self from gambling is a great step. Just wondering if you’ve been doing any reading on how to deal with the emotion and mood swings that will inevitably rear their heads? These feelings are normal but can be intense. Having as much support as you can get may be helpful. Take care,
      Laura
