Hey folks,
I have been chatting to quite a few people on here over the weekend and from GA and unfortunately been hearing of lots of relapses for the same reason.
There are so many different things that a recovering CG should and could put in place to aid recovery but in my eyes the single most important thing to do is to cut off your supply of money immediately.
If a recovering cocaine addict has access to cocaine he will snort it. If a recovering heroine addict has access to heroine he will inject it and sure as hell if a CG has access to money in the early days then they will gamble with it. Money is our drug and if you dont have access to money you cant gamble!
I totally appreciate how difficult it can be to ask for help but I have still never met anyone that has managed to successfully recover without help. It takes a huge amount of courage to ask for help and let someone in. But for all those of us lucky enough to have friends or family that love us then use them and ask them for help. If a loved one came to you and asked for your help, I’m sure you would want to do what ever you can for them.
So hand your money over to friends or family or someone you can trust. Give them your bank cards, credit cards, make them a joining account holder if need be so you cant withdraw money without their signature. Basically do what ever it takes. Once that temptation is removed then you wont have too spend the first few days / weeks / months battling with yourself everyday.
