I am receiving death threats from creditors I have based in Africa from multiple sources, phone calls, e-mails, and calls to my family members including my wife and brother. Ideally I would shy from calling on law enforcement: I am a foreigner and a minority and I am worried about some mistakes I also may have made in respect of my finances, but in reality the threats may be credible, because I have being able to identify the trigger. I have being in negotiation with the creditor until an old “frenemy” heard I was in trouble and went to say to the creditor “he will never be able to pay, he has serious gambling problems”. Now back home, this may have being a death sentence (many may feel I am being dramatic), but to extend the potential of violence to a different nation is a new one in my books. Has anyone had similar experiences and how as it handled? I WILL and CAN pay every single cent I owe, I just need time.
Hi Jagger,
I see from your other thread that you are going to see a lawyer.
All I can recommend is to follow his legal advice. If there is any threat to you or your families safety then I would urge you to contact the authorities.
