Today is my first day of seeking help and support as I can not go on living my life the way I’am currently. I have been playing the online slots on my phone for the past 6 years and it has taken over my life. I will seek advice and where to start on the helpline once it is open and as soon as I have the money I will get gamblock for my phone.
Is this a good starting point for me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums
Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!
Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.
As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)
And on that note….
I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂
Take care

Hi Linds, well done on looking for help. Blocking your phone is a good first step.
What other barriers can you put in place? How can you limit your easy access to funbds with which to gamble? Maybe someone could help you with accountability?
If those slots have taken over your life then you need to find other, more positive thigns to fill your time. It helps to plan your day, fill both your time and thoughts away from gambling.
Keep posting and hopefully I will meet you in one of the groups we have here soon.

Hello,
Thank you for the response to my message, I am feeling positive that I can get through this. Your exactly right I guess it’s not just about blocking my phone, I need to get a hobby that suits me after work to fill the time and have something to focus on. I started putting more hours in at work so I finished later to pass the time, then it was time for a shower and
bed. Then I started to burn myself out. I know that I need to just stop and it’s just a big circle so if
I thought about it, I then think about the pain and stress it has caused me, which then upsets me and depresses me, so I just feel on a low.I guess I can’t turn the clock back and what is done is done, but I can participate in the future and making each day not about gambling and giving anymore of my well earned money, or my precious time to these online games.
Thanks again for replying and chat soon
