I’m addicted to the roulette and I feel like I’m loosing everything, I have told my dad of my habits and he has tried to help me, I feel if I tell my girlfriend of my addiction she will leave me as we are trying to save for a holiday away next year. I have gotten myself into some debt (1000) over the last 2 years and it is really hurting me! How can I stop this

Well done on realising u have a problem. And hope you can grasp this addiction n arrest it early. I’ve had the same roulette addiction for 7 years and they have destroyed
My life. You have to let go of the money u have lost and forget about it. Gambling has you beat and that’s it. Gambling 1-0 Marty! Keeping it a secret only makes it worst, from experience it will only make you worst. I know how these machines seem like a quick answer and I’ve lost girlfriends over my addiction also. I’d suggest GA meetings, they really helped me and I’ve done lots of different treatments. Be open and you well get some pride back and beging achieving goals like ur holiday. Don’t even tempt ur self with a few pound or 1 spin. Roullette is over for you if you want to stop. If u need any advice just message me. It helps to talk to people who understand. For both of us! X

Hello Marty and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

      And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂

      Take care

      The Gambling Therapy Team

PS: Let me just remind you to take a look at our
privacy policy and terms and conditions so you know how it all works!

      Hi Marty,
Liam has already given you some good advice. It’s important to use the support that is available, if we could do it on our own then no one would be here in the first place.

Read the otehr stories here – you will see the sort of thing that has helped others stop gambling.

What barriers can you put in place? Can your dad hold your money for you and help you be accountable for how you spend it? Where do you gamble? Wherever it is you can get yourself banned.

Keep posting and let us know the positive steps you are taking.
