It’s now been 2 years since I started gambling on sports. At first, things went great as I won over $20,000 after starting with a mere $100. Since then, I can’t win consistently anymore and it’s taking over my life. Every part of the day is spent on thinking about how i can gamble and win another bet. I looked at my betting account the other day and was able to see how much $ has been played in my account since I first started and it’s over $35,000. I’m ashamed of this and want to still gamble but I know this cant continue on muchl longer with the way its going.

Before, I never would of thought about selling my possessions in order to gamble but now it’s crossing my mind. I have a Rolex that could fetch me some thousands. I’m only 22 and young and dumb isn’t an excuse but I don’t know how things got this bad.

Hello RJ and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums
Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!
Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.
As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)
And on that note….
I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂
Take care
The Gambling Therapy Team

Hi RJ,
Well done on accepting that you have a problem and reaching out for help.
You are young , but certainly not dumb- you have a gambling addiction.
Try to put barriers in place so cannot gamble – I use betfilter on my phone to block gambling activities .
Can you get someone else to manage your money for now ?It is a really hard addiction to overcome but you have youth on your side and the world at your feet .
Keep posting – you will get lot of helpful advice on here !
