I recently made a little bit of extra money and I thought I would try to make a little bit more money on sportsbetting and also online blackjack. I made a deposit of just 100 dollars. I even referred some
friends and got some free money. I was up to almost 450 dollars. I then saw that they had blackjack on there. I started playing and would lose and then win some and it would go back and forth, but most of
the time I would lose it all and then put more money in. I am married with one child that is 2. I started using credit cards and also debit cards so I would not have too much on one card. I ended up doing a
balance transfer on one of them to limit the amount 2500. At that time thats what I was down. I then started playing like 50-100 and got up and made 1-2 withdraws. I felt a little better, but when I would go to
make the withdraw I would end up playing and losing it all. I gave all my credit cards to my wife, but then I said I would not play again and she gave them back and I ended up spending another 4000. What
turned into 50-100 deposits, turned into 1000 a day. It made sports fun to watch but no matter what I would win, I would lose on blackjack. I guess it was the rush knowing I was playing with real money.
We ended up going on a vacation to where they had a casino. I quit the website for about 3-4 days and then put 200 in and won up to 13000 dollars. I told myself and even woke my wife up and was so happy. I was
thinking I had the best luck so I couldnt stop. I ended up betting higher and lost it all. It hurt me so much the next day and we were in town for a wedding. It was almost all I could think about. The website blocked my
account, but then I got that resolved and had 850 dollars in there that I won on a sports bet. I made a withdraw of 750 and was about to go to sleep and ended up playing and then lost all of it and put another 1000 in.
I am now down 7,000 dollars and owe my credit cards which I have already made payments pending from extra money I had. I just feel upset and depressed that I even let it get to this. I feel like I let my family down.
Luckily I have told my wife everything and she is supportive. It makes me look at money whole lot different. I have always been so tight with my money, but yet its so easy to just blow 1,000 online gambling. Even when
I go to a casino, I only spend like 200. I spent 315 at the casino and walked out with 500, but playing the website I would just lose and lose. I guess cause its just putting card info in. Any advice would greatly be appreciated
I have changed everything on the website and do not plan on getting back on. It is just trying to get over how much I have spent on there.

If this is your first time into gambling – then just draw a line under it and move on with your life.
You have discovered that you are not able to stop when you are winning but have the urge to keep going. That is the downfall of the problem gambler. The lure of the gamble is greater than any win and money ceases to have any value other than as tokens to carry on gambling with.
You have told your wife what is going on – that’s great. If you feel tempted to try your luck again – ask her to keep your finances for you until this passes. You could try scratching off the 3 figure number on the back of your credit / debit cards so that you cannot use them on-line but can still use them for real life transactions. Ban yourself from gambling sites – google how this can be done in your country or state.
I hope this is a one-off experience for you and yes it has proved expensive – but some of us have lost houses, jobs, partners and good health through gambling. Don’t join the ranks by trying to win back what you have lost. Keep strong.

Thank you for the response. I am just trying to stop the problem before it gets any worse. This was a bad experience for me and I am not trying to compare to other people. I know gambling is something that can ruin a persons life. If anything I would want to help people out that deal with this problem. I believe getting on a website and talking to people would be better then gambling. Thanks again Steev.
