      Hi all,

I am from Singapore ( yes, the beautiful land where North korea will be meeting America! ).

I have been a CG for the past 17 years. I was ( and partially still am ) very successful in my career, and the money I have earned from my career fueled this absymal downfall. I’ve started earning 6 digits figures ( in pounds ) since my early twenties, and because of that, the banks have granted me credit in excess beyond my wildest dreams. Obviously we all know how this pans out – every single one of my CC has been wiped out, cleared, and I’m down in the doldrums.

Gambling knows no geographical boundaries. Whilst I have excluded myself from visiting all physical casinos, I am now hooked to online gambling. These vendors have no exclusion clauses ( most of them illegal ) – and it is impossible to “exclude” myself from entering per say.

I see the pain and suffering of my family members that were the direct results of my debts – harrassment, calls , demand letters …. all these I’m sure a perpetual CG is familiar with. All i can remind you is that remember the love that your family and close friends gave you uncondotiionally when you asked them for “help” after “help” after “help”. Gambling is a sickening illusion that gave us the false hope that we would win back the money ( that we wanted to pay off the debts ), BUT THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

The irony of gambling is that it’s such a sickening disease, and I feel it’s worse off than drugs  – because with drugs at least you WILL be caught and put behind bars but with gambling no one really gives a shi* because it’s a neccessary evil that even the government is profitering off it.

I wish one and all well.

Hi Night Money and welcome to the forum. what you say would resonate with anyone with a gambling problem. Unfortunately it is a progressive problem that only gets worse over time. Once we become addicted to gambling we can never be responsible players again. I am not familiar with online gambling as it is illegal here. I never trusted the sites to be legitimate and above board. I was too instant gratification. I wanted any wins in my hands instantly. Only to be spread around in different gambling machines again. I have heard of a few online gamblers here using online blocking software. I’m not sure if that is something you could use to help put barriers between you and the online sites. One of the first things we need to do is stop the bleeding of money. With your large salary you could be comfortable again quicker than many. If blocking software isn’t an option than maybe you need to hand control of your money and bank accounts over to someone you trust. This gives you time to think. Time to break the cycle. Keep posting. Maybe seek out some extra help or counseling on the help line. This addiction can be overcome. Well done for reaching out.

      Hi Nightmoney,
Well done on starting a thread and accepting that gambling has become a problem for you .
You can purchase a gambling blocker for each of your online devices – I use betfilter, but you can get others . This means you cannot gamble and I find it helpful in that it gives me time to think things through to the end when I would be left feeling terrible and having no money . Perhaps something like this would help you ?

I could never stop or stay stopped without barriers but now I have clocked up a very health five months (almost) gamble free.

!Keep positive , keep posting and keep working on it
